Bemidji High School Joins Central Lakes Conference: A New Era for Lumberjacks Athletics

Bemidji High School’s athletic programs are set to embark on a new chapter as they join the Central Lakes Conference (CLC) beginning in the fall of 2026. This move marks a significant shift for the Lumberjacks, who have competed as an independent school for decades.

The CLC comprises schools such as Alexandria, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Rocori, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, St. Cloud Tech, St. Cloud Apollo, and Willmar. By joining this conference, Bemidji High School aims to foster stronger rivalries and provide student-athletes with consistent competition.

Kristen McRae, BHS activities director, expressed enthusiasm about the transition, noting that both coaches and athletes are excited about the opportunities this change presents. The move is expected to enhance the athletic experience for students and strengthen community engagement through regional competitions.

As the 2026-2027 school year approaches, the Bemidji community eagerly anticipates the positive impact this conference affiliation will have on its high school sports programs.
