Bemidji is actively investing in infrastructure projects to enhance the quality of life for its residents. These initiatives encompass street renewals and advancements in water treatment facilities.
Street Renewal Projects
The Bemidji City Council has approved the 2026 Street Renewal Project, awarding the contract to Sparky’s Construction Incorporated. The project, valued at approximately $1.41 million, is set to commence in May and conclude by September. It will focus on improving sections of 10th Street NW, 11th Street NW, and Jeannette Avenue NW, aiming to enhance road safety and accessibility for the community.
Water Treatment Enhancements
In response to concerns about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the water supply, Bemidji has constructed a new water treatment facility. This plant is designed to effectively remove PFAS contaminants, ensuring the provision of safe drinking water to residents. The facility employs advanced treatment technologies, including granular activated carbon and ion exchange resins, to address water quality issues.
Community Collaboration
These infrastructure projects reflect Bemidji’s commitment to community well-being and development. The city continues to engage with residents and local organizations to identify and address infrastructure needs, fostering a collaborative approach to municipal improvements.
